I think I'm going about cleaning my room the wrong way. How did I accumulate so much stuff? The one thing that sucks about being a traditional artist is that the amount of space your artworks and materials take up can be terrifying. My CD and DVD collection is quite large in itself and so is my manga / novel / artbook stash.



Put it this way - I have a room that is 7.5m² in space. Oh and it's 2.5m high (yes I can touch my own roof).

My bed is 2m² and my desk is 1.5m²

Considering that I need at least 50cm between the bed and my desk to actually move...that leaves me a remaining 4m² of available space.

This space is to be used for everything else which exists in my life - clothes, reference items, office files (bank statements, work files, official documents etc), books, other paraphernalia - or kipple as I like to call it...thank you Blade Runner - and of course my tech based items like the laptop etc.



Really - it's not a lot of room. Especially when your family uses your cupboard as the main storage room for suitcases. Doesn't help at all.

I've already thrown out/donated everything I don't need or want so now what is remaining is indeed things I use nearly everyday or most days.



Oh - I also don't believe in using the space under my bed - I have this inate fear that if my rickety bed ever breaks I would land painfully on the boxes below. And anyway - I sometimes shift my bed over and sleep on the floor.

What's the best method of doing this?

I just ran that question like a puzzle out of Professor Layton & The Curious Village didn't I? Oh well.
